Mtirala National Park
The mountain that 'weeps': up to 4,500 mm of rain a year makes Mtirala the wettest place in Georgia — and the greenest.
The mountain's name means 'the weeping one', and it's honest advertising: moisture off the sea gets caught in these slopes, feeding the Colchic rainforest — relict thickets inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Inside are marked trails, hanging bridges and the Tsablnari waterfall with its plunge pool.
The main trail is easy and takes a couple of hours; the visitor centre at the entrance hands out maps and advice. Always pack a raincoat — the mountain lives up to its name unannounced.
