Kobuleti
Ten kilometres of beach, pines at the waterline and a pace of life two notches slower than Batumi's.
Kobuleti is Adjara's second resort, half an hour north: a long strip of fine pebble and sand backed by pines and Soviet-era sanatoriums. People come when they want the sea without towers and clubs — the water is the same, the crowds noticeably thinner.
North of town lies the Ispani reserve — peat bogs crossed by wooden walkways, an unexpected landscape half an hour from the subtropics. On the way back, stop at Tsikhisdziri for the Petra fortress above the sea.
